How to get the Honda Civic radio code and unlock the radio

Setting the Honda Civic radio code every time the battery runs out or is disconnected is a task that many users find annoying. The technology is part of Honda’s anti-theft protection system. Once disconnected, it prevents the use of the radio without putting a set of radio codes.
How to find the Honda Civic radio code?

How to unlock Honda Civic radio code? Well, it doesn’t take long once you know the correct way to find the code. All you need is the radio’s serial number and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
1. Find the VIN of your vehicle

The Honda Civic VIN is a 17-digit code that can have any letter from A to Z and any number from 0 to 9. However, no VIN will include the letters ‘I’, ‘O’ and ‘Q’.

The proof of insurance card or car registration document is supposed to have the VIN on it. You can also look at the base of the windshield where a label may have the VIN printed on it.

If you still can’t find it, check the financial services statement documents for the vehicle.

2. Device serial number identification

Device number may vary depending on Honda models. In most cases, the radio serial number in a Civic model is located inside the glove box. There you will see an anti-theft tag showing the number.

If the number is not there, follow these steps:
Turn on the power switch and the device. The latter must display the word ‘COdE’. If the word does not appear, pull the backup fuse for one minute, and then reset the power switch and the device.
When you see the message on the screen, turn off the device. Then turn the device back on after holding down the radio preset buttons 1 and 6.
The display will toggle between two displays: one showing a four-digit number starting with a U (U5572, for example) and the other showing another number starting with an L (L0098, for example). Write the digits ignoring the letters. In this case, the serial number will be 55720098.
Turn off the radio and the car.
3. Get Honda Civic Radio Code

The last part is to visit Honda’s Radio NaviCode website and enter the VIN serial number and some other personal information like your zip code and email. After submitting the information, you will get the code. Turn on the radio and enter the code. Your radio is unlocked!

This way you can crack the 2001 to 2006 Honda Civic radio code. If the car is older than 2001, there is no way to find the code except by disassembling the radio from its slot. You need to visit the local Honda service center to reset the Honda Civic radio code.
